Studio Art alumna, Maggie Macdonald ‘19, was invited along with three local artists to develop and install a new mural at Spartanburg Community College.
The collaboration of Spartanburg artists Jeremy Kemp, Stephen Long, Maggie Macdonald, and Adrian Meadows resulted in a massive new mural on the SCC campus.
Maggie said the mural was developed based on SCC’s vision for the space. The four artists then created a three-panel mural on the Giles campus.
Maggie thrives when it comes to large-scale works of art. She said, “Murals are especially fun because they seem rather limitless because of their scale. “
Maggie credits the guidance and teaching of Professor Andrew Blanchard and Dr. Mary Carlisle for her success. “Being their student during my time at Converse gave me confidence and a general sense of pride about my work as I ventured into the “real” world,” Maggie said. “They both gave me applicable skills regarding an actual art practice that I still use in my work today.”
