Performer, Educator & Converse Advocate: Meet Brandi N. Icard ’04

Brandi N. Icard ’04 started her bachelor’s degree at Converse, later completing a degree in music at Bob Jones University. She later returned to Converse, completing a Master of Music (MM) in Performance from Converse. Icard has performed and taught music in the Charlotte area for the past ten years. She is currently the Director of the voice program at Clover High School and maintains a private studio.
Prior to moving back to the Carolinas, Icard was a singer and teacher in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex, appearing as a principal artist with the Fort Worth Opera Company and teaching at the Fort Worth Academy of Fine Arts.
Icard is this year’s recipient of Converse University’s “Star Award“. The Star Award is given by the Converse Alumni Association Board in recognition of an alumna/alumnus who has actively and admirably served Converse in the area of student recruitment.
Icard has taught several high school students who compete and win nationally at the annual NATS (North American Teachers of Singing) competition. She regularly encourages her voice students to Converse to study at the Petrie School of Music and next fall, four of her current students will be attending Converse’s Petrie School of Music.
