Math Jeopardy, Measles and Black Death: Just Another Day in the Math Department
Dr. Williams and seven of her students attended the Mathematical Association of America Southeastern Section conference at Mercer University in Macon, GA. Dr. Williams gave a presentation on ‘Inquiry-Based Learning in Real Analysis’ and Converse students participated in the Math Jeopardy! competition.
Four of the attending students presented posters:
- Brooke Beeskma – “An Examination of the RSA Cryptosystem”
- Ashly Earley – “Games for Generalizing Finite Groups with Cross Product Z_2 and Finite Abelian Groups”
- Abby Sweet (Nisbet Honors) – “Measles and the Importance of Vaccination”
- Megan Lenaghan – “Medieval Europe’s Next Top Model: Using NetLogo to Model the Black Death.” Megan won an award for best poster.
