Dr. Peterson Publishes Third Book
Dr. Aaron Peterson, Director of the Doctorate in Professional Leadership and Assistant Professor of Leadership at Converse University, recently published his third book ,Captain Pike in the C-Suite: Humble Leadership in Star Trek.
Captain Pike in the C-Suite: Humble Leadership in Star Trek, explores the value of humility in leadership through a set of scientifically driven yet readily applicable interpersonal and psychological skills by utilizing an intersection of Star Trek and meditative practices. Focused on the popular culture icon of Captain Christopher Pike from the current runaway hit Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, this work is centered on the potential of mind-body practices such as meditation to leverage humility to promote more effective leadership. This is Dr. Peterson’s third book with his good friend and colleague, Dr. Jason Kaufman, from Minnesota State University, Mankato. This is also Dr. Peterson’s second book with McFarland Publishing.
Dr. Peterson’s second book, Second Star to the Right: Essays on Leadership in Star Trek, is an edited anthology on leadership through the lens of Star Trek. The book contains chapters written by different authors who are experts in myriad areas of leadership (i.e. education, business, entertainment, military, etc.). The book was published with the academic publisher, Vernon Press.
Dr. Peterson’s first book, Leadership in Star Trek Lessons from the Captain’s Chair, is coming up on its 3rd year anniversary since being published. This first book explores the leadership concepts of communication, patience, and relationship through the lens of the grand captains of Star Trek.
Dr. Peterson teaches in the Doctorate in Professional Leadership and the Master’s in Management programs. He is also currently developing graduate courses focusing on higher education leadership.
