Free Electronics Recycling Day for Public on Oct. 22
Converse College will host a free electronics recycling day for the public on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011. Computers and other electronics can be dropped off in the Twichell Parking Lot between 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
“Our recycling event is timely because a new landfill ban went into effect this summer, making it unlawful to dispose of computers, monitors and printers in a landfill. Converse hopes that providing this service to the public will make it easier for everyone to take care of our environment, and that it will help raise awareness about the importance of recycling,” said Mark Osinga, senior director of facility services and planning.
The following items can be dropped off for recycling:
- Computer components
- Hard drives
- Monitors ($8 fee)
- Keyboards/mice
- Cables/wiring
- Power supplies
- Printers/copiers
- Fax machines
- Telephones/cell phones
- Scanners
- Batttery back-ups
- Printer cartridges
- Any metal (shelving, file cabinets, etc.)
- All electronics EXCEPT TVs
