Converse College’s first fully-online graduate degree programs will begin February 1, 2012, along with courses for teacher recertification. The Educational Specialist in Literacy and the Educational Specialist in Leadership & Administration are the first degree programs slated to be offered fully online, with plans to expand the number of programs in the future.

Converse’s online courses are designed for busy, nontraditional, achievement-oriented students. Online courses provide convenience and flexibility to help students advance their education and future, while preserving the high quality for which Converse is renowned. Recognizing that one of the main obstacles to pursuing advanced study is time, Converse’s online programs allow students to fit their education into their schedules.

“Extending our on-campus educational opportunities into an online environment will greatly enhance Converse’s ability to serve teachers and administrators who need flexibility and value academic excellence,” said Dr. Kathy Good, Dean of the School of Education & Graduate Studies. “We look forward to expanding our partnerships with school districts throughout the region and country through these online programs.”

Converse’s virtual classroom imitates the traditional classroom setting by allowing students to contribute to class through student forums. Online students have the opportunity to spend more time reflecting, analyzing and responding to what classmates have written or discussed in class.

Online degree programs are being offered pending accreditor approval. For more information and to register, visit
