Converse Tennis Downs St. Andrew's, 8-1
It was a great day to open the spring season, both on and off the court. The weather was great and so was the tennis as the Converse College All-Stars defeated the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian College Knights, 8-1.
In doubles action, Tina Rohner paired with Ive Jardim at number 1. After taking an early lead 6-3, the All-Star pair let the Knights get back in the game as they rallied back to even the score at 6-6. Rohner and Jardim fought hard and seized the win 8-6. At number 2, Danielle Beck and Jenny Kile paired for an easy 8-1 win, while Andrea Weatherman and Virginia Jones cruised to an 8-0 win at number 3 doubles.
In singles action, the All-Stars got wins at numbers 1 (Rohner), 2 (Jardim), 4 (Kile), 5 (Weatherman) and 6 (Jones). At number 3 singles, senior Danielle Beck played a tough first set, losing in a tie breaker. Her opponent went on the win the second set as well, resulting in the All-Star’ only loss for the day.
