Alison Hughey ’03 Featured on FOX News
Adjunct Instructor of Music Therapy and Converse alumna Alison Hughey was featured on a FOX Carolina News feature about how music therapy can help relieve pain. The story was picked up by Fox affiliates across the country, even as far as Alaska, Vermont and Nevada.
Hughey discusses how she discovered music therapy as a resource to alleviate her pain after a back injury. As she began to explore the benefits of music therapy as an alternative to medication, Hughey realized how music, and how we breathe while playing music, can offer relief both physically and mentally. “Music provided me a way of expressing my frustration,” Hughey said in the interview.
