Jed Dearybury ’03 Publishes Children’s Book
Jed Dearybury ’03 has written and illustrated a children’s book to be released in July of 2025. The Rainbow Tree is described as a story of love and community in the face of adversity. You can purchase it online or locally at Hub City Books.
Dearybury, a Converse MAT graduate, was awarded the The Converse 100 Award in 2024 from the Converse University Alumni Association Board.
He has been featured in GQ Magazine as Male Leader of the Year. Dearybury met President Obama when he was the South Carolina honoree of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching. Dearybury was named as a top 5 finalist for South Carolina Teacher of the Year.
Dearybury has collaborated with Converse’s Associate Professor of Child and Family Studies, Dr. Julie Jones ’99. They have published books together including The Playful Classroom: The Power of Play for All Ages, and The Playful Life: The Power of Play in Our Every Day.
Dearbury worked with community psychiatrist Dr. Janet Taylor on the book, In The Courageous Classroom: Creating a Culture of Safety for Students to Learn and Thrive, an insightful take on the culture of fear in schools around the country.
