EdS Grad Spotlighted in ‘Augusta Chronicle’ Article
The Augusta Chronicle published a story about David ‘Brooks’ Smith ‘00 and his new role as vocational director for Columbia County.
Brooks earned his Education Specialist (EdS) in Administration and Supervision from Converse College. While serving as Director for Aiken County Schools and Aiken County Career and Technology Center, he helped to establish one of the first certified youth apprenticeship programs in the country.
From the article:
“Brooks Smith isn’t just focused on the entree of the day in career, technical and agricultural education. The new CTAE director for the Columbia County School District is focused on a menu that highlights all the possible programs for students.
Smith plans to work closely with the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce to find out what the local workforce needs are and make students aware of those needs.
“A lot of times students don’t realize they’re interested in something because they’ve never seen it or experienced it,” he said.”
