Math Grad To Compete in 2019 Miss South Carolina Competition
Despite her busy schedule as a nursing student at Trident Technical College in North Charleston, Addie Ledbetter ’17 will compete in the 2019 Miss South Carolina competition.
As a Mathematics major and French minor at Converse, Addie received a travel grant to attend the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis’ (NIMBioS) Blackwell-Tapia Conference. She was also a volunteer with the Children’s Miracle Network and promoted her platform, “You Text . . . You Next,” a campaign to prevent texting while driving.
In 2015 and 2016, Addie was a summer intern at the MedEx Academy Internship Experience, hosted at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.
Addie is presently an advocate for the Orangeburg County community through her personal platform, “Empowerment Through T.E.A.S.,” a mentoring program for girls.
Addie said, “Throughout this journey, I always tell the people to ‘dream big and dream often.’ I am looking forward to representing such a diverse, inspiring community that is Orangeburg County at Miss South Carolina,”
Addie’s career goal is to earn a Masters in Nurse Anesthesia and become a registered nurse anesthetist.
