Biology Senior Spending her Summer Swimming with Sea Turtles
Mary “Katie” Dixon ’17 will spend this summer working as a sea turtle intern at Cumberland Island. The 6-month internship with the National Park Service and Americorps/Student Conservation Association will allow Katie to conduct research on the nesting sea turtles on Cumberland Island, GA.
She will work with the Cumberland Island Wildlife Biologist collecting data, while protecting and maintaining the sea turtle nests. Katie says, “I hope that this internship will be a start to my career working with sea turtles and other marine life.”
Katie will receive her BS in Biology and a BA in German Studies this month.
