Politics Grad is Shaking the Tree as First Female Parliamentarian
Amy Carter Whitfield ’98 is breaking ground for women as the first female parliamentarian for the Southern Baptist Convention. A double major in Politics and Philosophy, Whitfield credits the writing and debating skills she developed here at Converse while participating in our Model Programs diplomatic simulation team.
“She is Converse to the core.”
Dr. Joe Dunn, executive director of the Carolinas Committee on U.S.-Arab Relations and director of the Southeast Model Arab League, said Amy was one of his all-time favorite students as well as an outstanding leader in Model Arab League. “She worked for me as associate director of summer programs and everyone loved her,” Dr. Dunn said. “She is Converse to the core.”
