As part of the educational mission of the College, the Department of Campus Safety works to teach the campus community how to best protect themselves and their property. The cooperation, involvement, and personal support of students, faculty and staff in a campus safety program are crucial to the program’s success. Students and employees must assume responsibility for their own personal safety and the security of their personal belongings by taking simple, common sense precautions.
At Converse College, safety is a primary consideration in the maintenance, grounds keeping, and lighting of the campus. Campus safety officers report all safety and security hazards to the Maintenance Department. The Department of Campus Safety also works with The Division of Student Development and Success to ensure that safety policies and procedures are uniformly executed and conveyed in a clear and consistent manner to the College’s students, faculty and staff.
Members of the college community are encouraged to report any crime or suspicion of a crime immediately. To report a crime or emergency, call the Department of Campus Safety at 864.596.9026. Officers are available 24-hours a day to respond to emergency calls.
The Department of Campus Safety works closely with the city, county and state law enforcement agencies to better serve Converse College. Crime-related reports and statistics are routinely exchanged.
Ongoing efforts are made to advise members of the campus community about campus crime and crime-related problems. As circumstances warrant, email alerts are prepared and distributed either selectively or throughout the campus.
