MFA Department Begins 2021 with Multiple Triumphs
Converse is extremely proud of the following MFA students and graduates for their recent accomplishments. They were led by our illustrious MFA faculty members Susan Tekulve, Tyree Daye, and Denise Duhamel.
- MFA poetry student Marlanda Dekine was selected as a participant in the highly competitive Tin House Writer’s Conference and was offered a full fellowship to attend.
- MFA nonfiction graduate Yolande Clark-Jackson was selected from more than 1000 applicants to be a participant in the Tin House Writer’s Conference.
- MFA poetry student Zorina Frey was recently selected as the Langston Hughes Fellow for the Palm Beach Poetry Festival.
- MFA graduate Hannah Marshall ’20 had her poem “This Is a Love Poem to Trees” selected by Tracy K. Smith, former U.S. Poet Laureate, to appear in The Best American Poetry 2021.
- Clemson University Press is scheduled to publish the new anthology, “Ice On a Hot Stove: Poetry from the Converse MFA” edited by Professor Rick Mulkey and Denise Duhamel. The cover art for the anthology was designed by Associate Professor of Studio Art, Andrew Blanchard.
