Audrey Hamilton ’20, Victoria Heyworth ’20 and Abigail Rutherford ’20 (Nisbet Honors) attended the annual conference of the American Music Therapy Association in Minneapolis. They had the opportunity to meet folk singer and violinist Gaelynn Lea, winner of the NPR Tiny Desk Contest.

The students attended various conference sessions, music-making gatherings and association business meetings.

Dr. Carol Shultis joined the students at the conference. She presided over meetings of the Ethics Board, taught a 5-hour continuing education course with her Ethics Board colleagues, recorded a podcast about the new aspirational model Code of Ethics and taught a segment of a day-long institute entitled ‘Innovative Music Therapy Program for Older Adults.’

Music Therapy alumna Laurie Peebles ’10 was also at the conference and presented her prize-winning research poster from her graduate work at the University of Miami.
