Lander Defeats Converse
Spartanburg, S.C.— The Lander University Bearcats beat the Converse College tennis team 8-1 Monday afternoon. Converse drops to 1-4 on the season.
Rhett Smodic picked up the lone win point for the All-Stars. Smodic defeated Lander’s Ana Luiza Zaia in three sets (6-2, 5-7, 10-4). The All-Stars Lee Cantey won the first set, but was unable to win either of the next two and eventually fell to Nicholi Marsh in three sets (1-6, 6-2, 6-10)
The All-Stars will return to the hard court on Wednesday, February 28 at 2:00 pm. Converse will be squaring for their road match against CVAC school Queens University.
