Converse falls to Lander in regular season finale

GREENWOOD—-Christy Plecha and Andrea Griffin recorded 14 kills each Tuesday night to lead the Lander volleyball team to a 3-2 victory over Converse College in a non-conference game in Horne Arena. Game scores were: 30-19, 14-30, 29-31, 30-28, 15-11.

Lander improves to 10-22 overall, while Converse drops to 21-14. Lander will meet Francis Marion at 1 p.m. Friday in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament at Christenberry Fieldhouse in Augusta, Ga.

Plecha also had a team-high seven blocks in the victory, while Claire Damon dished out a team-high 30 assists and had six service aces. Melissa Trippany had a team-high 37 digs, while Sara Senn added 26, Tracy Jacobs and Kerri Sorensen 20 each, Kay Stewart 17, and Damon 13.

For Converse, Leslie Shain (17 kills, 25 digs), Monica Wallace (14 kills, 24 digs), Michelle Sloan (10 kills, 16 digs), and Brittany Ogez (49 assists, 22 digs) had double-doubles.
