All-Stars beat Pfeiffer in a thriller
All-Stars Basketball open their account with a win against Pfeiffer
Spartanburg, SC – It was more of the new and less of the old as the Converse All-Stars recorded their first win of the season with a hard-fought 53-49 win against Pfeiffer Saturday night. The All-Stars were led by an inspired freshman Sydney Brown (Myrtle Beach, SC) who led all scorers with 17 points including 5 for 7 from the three point line.

Brown would finish the first half perfect from the field and free-throw line with 8 points.
Trailing by two at halftime, the All-Stars did not repeat their last game performance although Pfeiffer did establish a 7 point lead with ten minutes remaining in the game. Najja Moon (Durham, NC) and Cathy Jennings (Fayetteville, NC) contributed 8 and 6 points respectively and it would be Jennings would tie the game at 47 with 1:29 to play.
The star of the second half would prove to be Lauren Mueller (Foley, AL) fresh from an All-CVAC volleyball season who had 10 points, 3 blocks and 3 crucial free throws to seal the game in the final 9 seconds for the All-Stars. Brown hit a three pointer with 39 seconds remaining to give Converse a 50-49 lead that they would not relinquish despite two missed Pfeiffer three-pointers in the final 15 seconds.
With the loss Pfeiffer drops to 3-1 on the season and return to action Tuesday when they host Barton at 6:30pm. The All-Stars improve to 1-4 and are on the road Monday at Erskine for 6:00pm tip-off.
