Converse Soccer wins comfortably on the road
Asheville, NC – A goal each from sophomores Paige Kohler (Seneca, SC), Ashley Carry (Amarillo, TX) and Sam Chapman (Spartanburg, SC) propelled Converse to a 3-0 victory over Warren Wilson College, NC Tuesday evening.
The All-Stars dominated for ninety minutes not allowing a shot on goal against them securing the first shutout of the season with stellar defending from Samoria Roundtree (Shaw AFB) and freshman Meredith Montroy (Pittsburgh, PA). The All-Stars opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a Kohler’s second goal of the year and Carry would effectively end the game with a first-time finish from a Brittnay Moreno (Seneca, SC) cross in the 53rd minute. Moreno was by far the best player on the field and was a constant threat from the left side of the midfield.
The final goal was a wonder strike from Chapman who hit a snap left foot shot from 25 yards that bent inside the near post and gave the goalkeeper no chance.
Converse returns to action Monday September 19th when the travel to Columbia, SC to face Columbia College.
