Converse Ends Second Half Comeback with a 3-3 tie.
Converse rallied in the second half and ended a 3-1 lead by the Coker College Cobras for their first tie of the season. Converse now stands at 0-4-1.
The Cobras pulled ahead in the first half when freshman Stephanie Foster scored the first goal. Converse College survived some dicey moments late in the period but Coker held fast to hold the lead at halftime.
The All Stars speedy wings bit Coker early in the second half when Sarah Schiff broke down the left side and hit a perfect shot to tie the game 1-1. Megan Shaver put the Cobras up 2-1 with her first goal of the season in the 59th minute.
Coker appeared to put the game away in the 78th minute when sophomore Cara Durrance scored for a 3-1 lead. However, Converse stormed right back and made it 3-2 less than a minute later on a goal by Tracy Archenhold.
After looking deflated for much of the second half, the goal sparked the All Stars back into life and they cranked up the pressure on Coker’s defense. With less than five minutes to play Converse, who was called off-sides four times in the match, beat the trap and sent Ashley Carry in on the keeper in a one-on-one situation. She calmly put the ball away and tied the score again at 3-3.
Converse will be back in action October 5th when they travel to Newberry College.
