Converse Soccer Looks Great in Opening Scrimmage
The Lady All-Stars were victors over the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy team in their opening scrimmage on August 17th. With a young team of eight freshman, the girls have been back on campus for just over a week for intense pre-season training. In the first half of action, freshman forward Ashley Carry scored the teams first goal off of a corner kick by teammate Traci Archenold. Ashley Carry was hot in the second half as well, scoring a header goal off of a cross by Samantha Chapman. Later in the second half, Chapman, also a freshman forward, was in the right place at the right time and was able to put the ball into the back of the net on a cross by Rachel Sherman. To end the game, Student-Coach Traci Archenold found an opening and dribbled the ball all the way in to score the final goal. “It was exactly what we hoped for. A new team, a new attitude…things will come together from here”, says third year Head Coach Shannon Rossley. You can see the Lady All-Stars in action again on Thursday August 19th at 6pm.
