Converse Defeats Brevard For The First Time In Their Soccer History
The All-Stars came from behind to capture a 3-1 victory over the Tornados of Brevard College. The All-Stars started out strong, but made a few mental mistakes, which enabled Brevard to capitalize off of a corner kick. Soon after the Brevard goal, Converse gained control of the game and scored with 24:01 left in the first half to even the score at 1-1. The first goal for Converse came from the right back Courtney Rossley as she took the ball up the right side and played a flighted ball over the back line, which landed at the foot of Rachel Sherman where she finished the ball. This was her eighth goal of the season. The second goal for Converse came with 9:54 left in the first half when a Brevard defender committed a handball in the penalty box. The referee issued a penalty kick and Allison Dalbec finished it into the back of the net, which was Allison’s fourth goal of the year. The first half ended at 2-1 with Converse out shooting the Tornados 9-3.
The second half, Converse started out slow, but quickly regained their intensity from the first half. The All-Stars out shot the Tornados 15-13 “We are very proud of the way the girls are playing. Due to injuries, we thought we would struggle. However, the girls proved to us and each other that they can come together as a team and play through whatever they must ,” says Coach Rossley.
