Mary Cloonan and Megan Pierce came in at 15th and 16th place in the USCS Invitational on Saturday. Mars Hill swept the competition with 18 points, Scad was behind them with 73 points and Lander was third with 84 points. Converse came in sixth place with 134 points. Coach Tarpinian was very happy with the results because it was their first 6K of the year. Coach Tarpinian says, “The girls have been running 5K’s and the extra length really makes a difference.” However this was a great opportunity because their regional meet on November 8th in Raleigh will be 6K. Converse was led by Mary Cloonan with a time of 26:21. Her teammate Megan Pierce was right behind her with a time of 26:22. Hayley Crowe placed 34th with a time of 28:30. Teammates Katie McCaskill finished at 30:03, Regina Davis finished at 30:16, and Jennifer Mack finished at 33:48. The Converse All Stars have one more meet before they head off to Raleigh for regionals. They will be at the Furman Invitational next Saturday, October 11. This meet will be a 5k.
