Delay Of Game Did Not Delay the All Stars
The All Stars were prepared and ready to come out strong for their first game of the year against Agnes Scott Scotties. Converse was playing very aggressive and passing the ball around well throughout the whole team. There were many scoring chances for both teams, but at half-time, it was tied at 0-0.
At the start of the second half Converse College came out with a positive attitude and a desire to win. In the second half it was back and forth play until Christine McMakin slotted the ball near post when the goalie came out to try and make the save. With less than a minute in remaining the All Stars were called for a foul. Agnes Scott took a free kick and it trickled in near post, which forced regulation into overtime with a 1-1 tie.
There was a weather delay at the beginning of overtime that forced both teams off the field for 30 minutes. After the thirty minutes both teams came out to the field to return to action. Converse College was ready to play. They jogged out to the field in the rain and were ready to play. Converse was fouled in the first overtime and Allison Dalbec hit a free kick to the back post where Rachel Sherman was there to finish and win the game in sudden death overtime. The final score was Converse College 2, Agnes Scott 1. The All Stars are 1-0 in the season why the Scotties are 0-1.
