Award-Winning Poet to Give Public Reading at Converse
Poet Claire Bateman will give a free public reading Tuesday, March 6 at 8 p.m. in the Barnet Room of the Montgomery Student Center at Converse College. Her visit to Converse is made possible by the Coker Visiting Writers at Converse.
Bateman is the author of five collections of poetry including Clumsy, Friction, At the Funeral of the Ether, and her newest book, Leap.
Recipient of an NEA fellowship in poetry, a Robert Frost Fellowship, the Eighth Mountain Poetry Prize, and a Pushcart Prize, Bateman has taught at a number of colleges, universities and writing workshops. She currently directs the creative writing program at The Fine Arts Center in Greenville, SC.
