Milliken Art Gallery Opens 2005-2006 Season with Autobiographical Exhibit by Andrew Blanchard
The Milliken Art Gallery at Converse College opens its 2005-2006 exhibit season with an autobiographical exhibit of the newest faculty member of the college’s department of art and design.
“This Boy’s Life” by Andrew Blanchard, assistant professor of printmaking and photography, will open Sept. 1 and run through Sept. 30. An opening night (Sept. 1) reception will be held in the gallery from 6:30-8 p.m. As with all gallery events, the reception and exhibit are free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Milliken Art Gallery at (864) 596-9181 or send an e-mail.
All of the pieces in the exhibit, which are lithographs and silkscreens on paper and masonite, reflect Blanchard’s search for home and life on the road.
A native of Waveland, Miss., Blanchard has been included in over a dozen national and international juried printmaking exhibitions, including the 30th Bradley International Printmaking and Drawing Exhibition and the last two Parkside National Small Print Exhibitions. He has won awards for his lithograph-silkscreen combination prints in the Sumei International Printmaking Exhibition and the Delta National Small Print Exhibition. He is currently included in the Refresh Print Biennial, a traveling showcase on contemporary printmaking. In addition, his prints have been collected throughout the United States, as well as Paris, France, and Seoul, South Korea.
