Art Education Grad Has Sights Set on Med School
Art Education grad Sarah Spears ’21 has had her work in nine shows both locally and nationally over the past year. Recently, she exhibited her work at West Main Artists Co-op in Spartanburg, South Carolina, Seasons Art Show at the Grey Cube Gallery, and Faces at the Art Room Gallery.
Sarah considers herself a photorealistic graphite portrait artist. “I love to draw strong, powerful women, or women with unique features,” Sarah said. “I want viewers to see my works and be inspired. Whether that is the inspiration to start drawing for themselves, inspiration to work in a male-dominated field, such as medicine, inspiration to simply be their real authentic selves, or anything else they might feel while viewing my drawings is completely up to them though, but I appreciate them all the same.”
Sarah works as a medical scribe ambassador at Spartanburg Regional Hospital and hopes to begin medical school in the fall of 2023.
When she’s not working at the hospital, Sarah has been working on commissioned murals and has recently tried her hand at pen portraits.
