Art Grad Will Swim with Sharks in New Content Specialist Role

Only a few weeks after graduation, Avery McAlhany ’21 accepted a position with OCEARCH as their content specialist. Based in Florida, OCEARCH is a data-centric non-profit organization that helps scientists collect shark and ocean data for research.
Avery excelled in the multiple interviews required for the role, and she even created work samples as part of the interview process. She is joining a team of multimedia storytellers who help to lead the digital conversation on shark science.
Avery will have the opportunity to go on three expeditions each year to tag sharks and retrieve data. Her role consists of supporting marketing campaign development, designing digital assets, and writing and editing creative content.
Avery credits her digital skills to Converse’s robust digital media classes and faculty. She said, “I am so grateful that Converse has been able to prepare me for this wonderful opportunity. Professor Massengale was an exceptional mentor; he has instilled confidence in me and my work.”
