Short Story by McMaster About Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Published in Wisconsin Review
An original short story by Converse writing and literature professor Arthur McMaster has been selected for publication in the Spring 2009 issue of the Wisconsin Review.
"The piece is entitled ‘The Separation of Specialist Piatrowski,’ and concerns a young soldier’s expected separation from the US Army following combat in Iraq, but he finds no matter how hard he searches for the nominal doorway to the rest of the world he cannot leave," explained McMaster. "The story is especially timely as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is at an all time high in America."
McMaster is a retired army intelligence officer, has taught writing and literature courses, along with IDC, at Converse for the past four years. He has published fiction, poetry and criticism recently in Poet Lore, North American Review, Poetry East and Subtropics.
