Children's Healthcare Advocate to Speak at Converse
SPARTANBURG, SC– A champion for the health and welfare of America’s children will be a guest lecturer at Converse College.
Elizabeth “Jackie” Noyes has been named the Aline Saunders West Memorial Lecturer and will deliver her address in Hartness Auditorium in Carmichael Hall. Entitled “You’re Never the Same Once You Know You Can Change the World,” the address will focus primarily on the influence women can make not only at the local level but globally as well. The event-which is free and open to the public-is part of the celebrations of Women’s History Month at Converse.
The 1969 Converse College graduate currently serves as associate executive director of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), an organization of 48,000 pediatricians.
Ms. Noyes has been tireless in her efforts in promoting and enacting healthcare legislation for children across the country. Specifically, she provided vital assistance to promote the passage of the Infant Formula Act of 1980, the Maternal and Child Health block grant, the Vaccine Injury Compensation Act, the Vaccines for Children Program, and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.
