Transfer Agreement Opens Doors for Converse Students & Spartanburg Community College
A new transfer agreement between Converse University and Spartanburg Community College (SCC) will enhance student success, increase access to higher education, and strengthen workforce readiness across the region.
The program agreement, signed on May 1, 2026, creates a streamlined pathway for SCC students to continue their education and earn a bachelor’s degree, ensuring that graduates of designated associate degree programs can transfer seamlessly into Converse University’s bachelor’s degree programs. Under the agreement, eligible SCC graduates will receive guaranteed admission to Converse, enter with junior standing, and benefit from coordinated advising and support services to guide them through the transfer process.
“At its core, this agreement reflects our shared commitment to students.”

“This initiative is designed to remove barriers for students as they pursue careers in the arts, humanities, science, education, and business,” explained Converse’s Vice President for Enrollment Management Jamie A. Grant-Ponce, Ed.D. “By creating a seamless transfer pathway between SCC and Converse, we are creating opportunities for students to save time, eliminate obstacles, and continue their academic journey to earning a bachelor’s degree with confidence and community support.”

The agreement is not only about credit transfers; it represents a commitment to collaboration with a shared goal of enhancing students’ educational experiences and outcomes.
“We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Converse for the benefit of our students and for our two institutions,” said SCC Vice President for Academic Affairs William Brothers, D.B.A. “This agreement helps to ensure that our graduates maximize their transfer credit with Converse, as they dream it, chase it, live it, and continue their educational journeys.”
Additionally, Converse students may opt to participate in a reverse transfer process in which SCC will confer the AA, AS, or AAS degree to the Converse student upon the successful completion of an eligibility audit and any additional requirements.
Leaders at both institutions look forward to contributing to student-centered success and to building a stronger, more educated workforce in Spartanburg and beyond.
“At its core, this agreement reflects our shared commitment to students,” said Converse Provost and Vice President for Student Success William S. Case, Ph.D. “Converse’s partnership with Spartanburg Community College strengthens the talent pipeline in our region and ensures that more Spartanburg students can pursue their goals close to home.”
