Patti McGowan Named by LPGA as SE Section Coach of the Year
The Ladies Professional Golf Association(LPGA) named Converse University head Golf Coach Patti McGowan as the Southeast Section Coach of the Year. McGowan is one of six section winners selected by the LPGA Professionals.
McGowan, a Spartanburg native, has coached at Converse University since the Spring of 2015. Since 2015, McGowan has won five tournaments, had 11 tournament runner-up finishes and 11 top-three finishes at tournaments. In 2017, McGowan coached the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year and on two occasions, her players have captured Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year awards. Prior to joining Converse, McGowan operated her own teaching/training/coaching company for more than a decade. McGowan also served as the Director of Coaches Training and Certification for the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy, an internationally recognized top junior golf academy.
The LPGA Executive Committee will select the overall national award winner in each category from among the section award winners. The national winners will be announced in the coming weeks.
