Converse to Hold 4th Annual Data Science and Cybersecurity Week
Converse University will hold its fourth annual Data Science and Cybersecurity Week from September 29 through October 3, 2025. October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month in the United States and several other countries.
This week of campus events will include a range of activities designed to engage, educate, and empower our students, faculty, and staff. Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility campus-wide. These sessions will emphasize the importance of cybersecurity and data science, particularly in a business setting.
Events will include:
- Networking: Tuesday, September 30th, 4:30-6:00 PM in Barnet Room
Networking session for students, with invited community members representing industries related to disciplines housed within the School of Business & Data Science. This event is open to all Converse students in all majors. - Keynote: October 1, 2025, 5:30-7:00 PM in Barnet Room
We will host our keynote speaker, Dr. Kevin McKenzie. Dr. McKenzie is VP & CISO at Ferguson Enterprises. He will discuss the importance of cybersecurity, particularly in a business setting, his journey in the field, and how to break into the field. This event is open to the entire Converse community. - Datathon: October 3, 2025, 12-4 PM in Barnet Room & Virtual
We are partnering with Women in Data Science (WiDS) to host a Datathon. Attendees will learn how to apply data science, computer science, or environmental skills, as well as use AI to generate meaningful insights. Upskill and learn about data science, or join a meaningful project to boost your resume without needing a coding background. Virtual participants are welcome. Register here.
These events are hosted by the School of Business & Data Science with support from Student Development & Success, and Career Development. Watch Daily Announcements for additional details.
