Dr. Mangum Wins SCICU 2025 Excellence in Teaching Award

Converse Associate Professor of Mathematics and Data Science Dr. Amanda Mangum was one of only 21 exceptional faculty members recognized by South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (SCICU) at the 2025 Excellence in Teaching Awards Dinner. These annual awards celebrate exceptional professors who demonstrate a profound dedication to student success and a passion for teaching that inspires their academic communities.

Dr. Mangum joined the faculty at Converse in 2019. Dr. Mangum has incorporated Mastery-Based Testing in several courses while at Converse. Dr. Mangum has been working on applying Self-Organizing Maps to atherosclerotic porcine plaques and is collaborating on a project concerning lipid separation on cassinian ovals.

SCICU supports and advocates for independent higher education in South Carolina. Representing 21 private colleges and universities, SCICU promotes collaboration, public awareness, and resources that advance academic excellence and student success.
