Dr. Williams Receives SC Independent Colleges & Universities Teaching Excellence Award
Dr. Jessica Williams was selected as Converse’s recipient of the 2019 South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Teaching Excellence Award. She was recognized at the awards ceremony in Columbia, SC.
Dr. Williams joined the department in 2015 as an assistant professor and teaches courses across the mathematics curriculum. She is a 2015-2016 Mathematical Association of America Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching) fellow.
Dr. Williams’ research has been focused in a branch of mathematics called abstract algebra, specifically in ring theory. Other interests include mathematics education, application of abstract algebra to voting theory, and working with undergraduates in mathematical modeling research.
