Dr. Berry’s Former Student Named Composer of the Year

Dr. David Berry played a hand in the success of composer, artistic director and DJ, Mason Bates. Named ‘Composer of the Year’ in 2018 by Musical America, Bates got his foundation in music as a student of Dr. Berry at Brevard Music Center. Today, Bates is the most-performed composer of his generation and the first composer-in-residence of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
