Faculty Attend “MathFest” in Denver, Colorado
Dr. Jessica Williams and Dr. Joe Barrera attended “MathFest”, the annual national conference of the Mathematical Association of America in Denver, Colorado. At the conference, Dr. Barrera also attended as a Project NExT (New Experiences in Teaching) Fellow. Project NExT, housed within the Mathematical Association of America, is a competitive, professional development program for new or recent PhDs.
Dr. Williams presented, “Transitioning from Lecture to IBL,” and attended the workshop “Data Science and the Mathematics Department” at the conference.
Dr. Williams and her collaborators received a grant from the American Institute of Mathematics and the Institute for Computational and Experimental Research in Mathematics to continue research started by the group during the program, Research Experiences for Undergraduate Faculty, in 2017. The project uses graph theory to study self-assembling DNA nanostructures.
