Low Residency MFA in Creative Writing to Hold Open House Jan. 6
The Converse Low Residency MFA in Creative Writing program will hold an Open House Information Session on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 from 3:30-4:30 p.m. in the Montgomery Student Center’s Barnet Room on the Converse campus. The public is invited to attend; advance registration is not necessary. MFA faculty representing all writing genres will be available to meet attendees and discuss the program.
Last year, Converse MFA students and recent graduates published or had accepted for publication eight books with major NY publishers and acclaimed independent presses
Participants will learn about the full MFA program, which holds 10-day, on-campus residencies each January and June, and new opportunities to sample the program through the less-intensive, non-degree Immersion Residency and Lecture Pass. The Immersion Residency allows prospective participants to sample the program by attending one complete residency session, including workshops, at a significantly reduced rate. The Lecture Pass provides the opportunity to attend all or some of the craft lectures and round table discussions led by core faculty, visiting faculty guests, agents and editors during the residency.
Last year, Converse MFA students and recent graduates published or had accepted for publication eight books with major NY publishers and acclaimed independent presses, and were honored as Georgia Author of the Year, nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and received a number of individual writing awards.

The MFA in Creative Writing is a two-year co-educational low-residency program designed for serious, independent writers seeking advanced instruction in poetry, fiction, young adult fiction, creative nonfiction, and environmental writing through a non-traditional course of graduate study. The program emphasizes the mastery and understanding of writing skills and contemporary literature and craft through the master-writer and apprentice mentoring relationship, ultimately offering students a stimulating and individually tailored curriculum of courses and projects.
