Biochemistry Senior Receives 20K Scholarship & Paid Training from NIH
The Scientific Review Committee of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) awarded Nisbet Honors student Ashley Thompson ’18 an undergraduate scholarship from the Office of Intramural Training and Education. Ashley was one of 11 students in the country to be awarded this highly-competitive scholarship.
In addition to receiving a $20,000 scholarship Ashley will also receive paid research training and employment at NIH for a year after graduation. She will be performing research in a laboratory of her choice at the NIH headquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. Ashley is interested in researching infectious diseases caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria or necrotizing enterocolitis, a disease that affects many premature babies.
