Bach in the Subways…and Spartanburg!
In honor of Johann Sebastian Bach’s 332nd birthday, musicians worldwide shared his legendary music by performing in subways, public spaces and concerts. The Petrie School of Music joined the ‘Bach in the Subways’ 2017 movement in Spartanburg with student performances at Hub City Bookshop, Cleveland Park and the Hub City Tap House.
Sarah Johnson, Associate Professor of Violin, said this event was an opportunity to cultivate future generations of classical music lovers. Some ‘unconventional’ music lovers also showed their gratitude for this one-day event. Einstein, the Service Dog, showed his appreciation at the Cleveland Park event. Ms. Johnson said, “This was a chance to share with the world that Converse College’s Petrie School of Music is alive with the sounds of Bach!”
