Watch Converse and German Friends Perform Bach’s B Minor Mass
On November 5, 2016, the Petrie School of Music and the Spartanburg Festival Chorus welcomed the celebrated German choral conductor Thomas Strauss with his group the Ortenau Bach Choir, the Las Vegas Brass, and German Bass soloist Clemens Morgenthaler, to join Converse faculty and students in presenting J. S. Bach’s Mass in B Minor.
Completed in 1747, J. S. Bach’s stupendous Mass in B Minor represents both the culmination of the great composer’s life work and the apex of hundreds of years’ worth of European church music traditions. It is undoubtedly among the monuments of Western culture. Watch the work in its spectacular entirety below.
