Biochem Major Accepted to Competitive Research Program at Furman
Biochemistry major Ashley Thompson ’18 has been accepted to Furman University’s highly competitive NIH-INBRE 2016 Summer Undergraduate Research Program as a Converse-Furman collaboration student. She will work in Dr. John Wheeler’s lab for 10 weeks over the summer. Ashley says:
“I am researching with the Chemistry department here at Furman. I am currently researching the levels and properties of biocide PHMB (polyhexamethylene biguanide) in contact lens solution in order to kill and prevent bacteria growth on the contact lens while in the eye on in solution…It is nice to have this additional exposure and knowledge under my belt.”
