Visiting Writers Series to host Robert Olmstead for Reading
Olmstead’s most recent book, The Coldest Night, was published in April. Publishers Weekly called it “(An) elegiac, gritty coming-of-age novel, powerful, desolate and well crafted.” It was chosen as an Amazon as one of the Best Books of the Month.
Olmstead has six previous books that span several genres: short stories, fiction and non-fiction as well as a book on writing, Elements of the Writing Craft. His Coal Black Horse won the Heartland Prize for Fiction and the Ohioana Award. Recipient of a Guggenheim fellowship and an NEA grant, Olmstead is a professor at Ohio Wesleyan University as well as a faculty member in the Converse College Low-Residency MFA program.
