Converse Students Perform at German Music Festival, Student Vlogger Shares Story

Music education major Maggie Haggerty ’13 and students from the Converse Orchestra and Converse Chamber Singers traveled to Opennau, Germany the last week in September to present two concerts at the Festwoche klassischer Musik (Classical Music Festival). Maggie is a video blogger known to her online followers as macmarge. She captured her travel adventures via YouTube.
1. Introduction
Maggie introduces herself and interviews fellow students about hopes, host families, and German cuisine.
2. Triberg
The students take a day trip to Triberg, Germany, where Maggie becomes enamoured with cuckoo clocks, discovers Germany’s tallest waterfall, and tours the Black Forest Open Air Museum.
3. Hosts & Strasbourg
Students share memories of their host families, Maggie meets a native friend, and they take a tour of the Notre Dame cathedral in Strasbourg, France.
4. The Music (Finale)
In this music-filled finale, the students perform for two German audiences, enjoy a final dinner with their hosts, and reflect on the transformative and culture-crossing power of music.
