LaClaire Atkins: A Year in Spain
LaClaire Atkins, a double major in Hispanic Studies and religion, fulfilled one of her ultimate dreams while studying at Converse. She spent a full academic year studying in Toledo, Spain at the La Universidad Jose Ortega y Gasset. Immersing herself in the heart of the culture, she took a variety of courses from Religious Architecture in Toledo to Theology of Spanish Mysticism to Grammar and Conversation. All the courses were taught in Spanish, allowing her to gain a firm grasp on the language.
“Of all my experiences in Spain, I enjoyed the culture the most. Everyone is so friendly and Toledo is such a small town that you really do know or recognize almost everyone!” said Atkins. “The night life is also an amazing thing to experience because it’s not like anything else on this planet.”
