Chapman Visiting Lecturer to Discuss Contemporary Iraq

Dr. Abbas Barzegar, the 2008 Chapman Visiting Lecturer, will speak about sectarianism in contemporary Iraq. His presentation, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 6 pm in the Barnet Room of the Montgomery Student Center.

Barzegar has published articles on Islam in several on-line journals and forums.  He has presented papers on the war in Iraq, suicide bombing and Islam in America. His current projects include articles on the Muslim Brotherhood and Shi’ite religious authority for the "Encyclopedia of Global Religion and Society" and "Encyclopedia of Islamic Political Thought."
