The Converse Opera Theatre will present Milton Granger’s “Talk Opera” and Giacomo Puccini’s “Gianni Schicchi” on March 12th at 8:00 p.m. and on March 14th at 3:00 p.m. in Twichell Auditorium. General admission is $10 for adults, $5 for students. Tickets can be reserved by call the Twichell box office at (864) 596-9725.
“Both works are satiric comedies that deftly poke fun at society,” said Dr. Ron Boudreaux, Director of the Opera. “‘Talk Opera’ presents Milton Granger’s hilarious premise: ‘What if characters from Verdi’s grand opera ‘Rigoletto’ were featured on Oprah?’ And in Puccini’s great comic opera, ‘Gianni Schicchi,’ the late Buoso Donati’s relatives are shown grieving around his deathbed but are mostly concerned with his will. They soon discover that he has left everything to the monastery and call upon the services of Gianni Schicchi in hopes that a solution can be found.”
