Converse College Board of Visitors Opens Inaugural Year
The 2000-2001 academic year marks the inception of the Converse College Board of Visitors, a group that will serve as an advisory resource to the Board of Trustees and the President and as an advocate for the completion of institutional goals.
The board convened for an introductory meeting in conjunction with Formal Opening Convocation on Tuesday, September 19th. President Gray challenged the group to address various issues of importance facing the College. During this first meeting, the board focused on new ways to increase Converse’s visibility. A second meeting will be held this spring in conjunction with Founder’s Day.
Members of the Board of Visitors will serve three-year terms and include alumnae, current and past parents, and friends who share a common interest in the Converse and represent a variety of backgrounds. The group will be led by an executive committee, which is currently comprised of Marion Rivers Cato ’65, Nancy Bain Coté ’81, Maryanna Habisreutinger, Tom and Tracy Hannah, Jo Carr Ussrey ’61, and Lisa Bell Weisiger ’84.
