Converse President Betsy Fleming and Kevin Ross, President of Lynn University in Florida, are the featured guests in a 15-minute podcast interview entitled “A New Generation of College Presidents” conducted by The Chronicle of Higher Education. At 39 and 35-years-old respectively, Fleming and Ross are the two youngest college presidents in the nation.
The Chronicle is the primary source of news and information for college and university faculty and administrators worldwide.
In the podcast, Fleming and Ross discuss with Chronicle reporter Scott Carlson the advantages and perils of running an institution as a young president. Fleming in particular cited creating “an environment of openness” by entering “into dialogue and asking for opinions and perspectives” and turning the issue of age into a “competitive advantage for the institution.”
